Staff’s testimonial - Matt, Durham, 3rd year
It all starts in basic training where the ideas behind the company and the jobs themselves are explained. You are trained in many of the skills that soon become second nature, from boxing tables and setting places to carrying trays and serving champagne. It only takes a few hours after which you can sign on to shifts for the next few weeks.
Once you are on the books, be it Edinburgh or London, you can very easily earn the extra cash that we always seem to need. Whether you work one shift a month or seven in a week there are always jobs for you to sign on to. This allows you to fit Splendid into your timetable and is the sort of flexibility that people in part-time jobs can only dream of.
This is coupled with the fact that every event is different, you could be working at the F1 grand prix one week and inside a Royal Palace the next. Splendid also offers you the chance to see places that you would never see otherwise, whether it is the inside of a film premiere or an exhibition at The Tate Modern before it even opens. It also gives you the perfect opportunity to discretely spot celebrities of all different kinds, from Prime Ministers to Pop Stars. In addition you are taught to work incredibly well as part of a team and gain great people skills. Best of all if you finish after the last tube has gone you can claim your taxi money back – Perfect! The social scene is fantastic and the annual Splendid staff party is always a classic.
